This list is just the treatments that we have tried with our ds and the effectivness of each.
1. Mood stabilizers--these work very well to keep our ds from rapid cycling emotions. However, weight gain has been an issue. We are working to change the medication to one that inhibits appetite.
2. Antibiotics--our ds developed an intolerance to pennicilans early in the treatment process. We have used azithromycin, cefdinir and clyndimycin with great effect.
3. Seritonin uptake inhibitors--used to keep his rages in check. Mostly working.
4. Probiotics with his antibiotics. The only one we found that didn't upset his stomach was Florstar, but there are many on the market.
5. He also takes vitamins and supplements that do not conflict with the antibiotics. We had to drop the vitamin with iron when taking cefdinir as iron inhibits the absorbtion of the medication.
6. Our ds did an IVIg treatment that was very successful through the 3rd month. As it's effectivness wore down his titer numbers plateued and haven't dropped much since.
This blog is not medical advice only a list of treatments we have used to treat PANDAS.
